Sibella Giorello’s The Cloud Rolls Away is the second book of the Raleigh Harmon series. And here she is back in her hometown working as an FBI agent after being transferred in the first book. In this book, she tries to unravel a supposedly racial attack on a famous rap star and also is trying to bust a drug racket. And thrown into it is her struggle with her work and personal life and how it intertwines into the cases she is trying to solve.
The book starts sluggishly and then picks up pace slowly and then ends in a somewhat gripping climax – but also making you hankering for more (which hopefully would be fulfilled in the third book of the series coming later this year).
As for my view on this book, I would say it is a pretty good read if you have the patience to read through the first half of the book. Also if you really want to enjoy it thoroughly, I would recommend reading the first book of the series – The River Runs Dry – to really understand what the main character is going through.
